Mehrangarh Fort -Peak Of Royalty

Mehrangarh Fort is heavenly, the aura it has can not be matched with any other fort. Sitting as a crown to the 400 feet high hill, Mehrangarh Fort is the prime example of Jodhpur’s royalty. The making of this fort that stretches over 5km was started by Rao Jodha, the founder of Jodhpur in 1459.

The fort has seven giant entrances, each having its own purpose. You can even see evidence of war on the high protective walls of the fort such as cannonball marks, which are assumed to be thrown to weaken the cavalry.

Umaid Bhawan Palace -The Royal Palace

One of the biggest residential palaces in the world, made for Maharaja Umaid Singh Ji. This complex houses the royal family, it also has a part of the palace assessable to the public as a museum. The two sides are broadly separated by gardens which are free to visit.

The beautiful museum and gardens are open to the public on weekdays and Saturdays, at the cost of INR 30 per Adult, INR 10 per Child (for Indians) and INR 100 for Foreign Tourists, which is minimal considering the experience Umaid Bhavan offers.

Jaswant Thada -Taj Mahal of Mewar

The Taj Mahal of Mewar, Jaswant Thada was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 in memory of his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh. This place is no less than a treasure to Jodhpur.

Toorji-Ka-Jhalara -Jodhpur Stepwell

Built in 1740 by Raani Tawarji, a queen of Marwar. Known as Toorki ka Jhalara among localities, these step wells are an example of the traditional water management system.

Clock Tower of Rajasthan, Ghantaghar was built during the 19th and 20th centuries by Maharaja Sardar Singh. It is now the centre of market streets in Jodhpur.

According to me, the best makhaniya lassi in the whole world is made in the Shri Mishrilal Hotel. No matter how many times you’ve had it, you will always want more! The hotel is located right in front of the Ghantaghar and is almost 100 years old!

It is made out of Jodhpur sandstone and lights up in the evening, this landmark of Jodhpur is worth visiting.

Sardar Market -Get The Authentic Jodhpur

One of the oldest markets in Jodhpur, the Sardar Market stretches over a vast area, inside the market there are food stalls, street vendors, clothing stores and many others where you can find souvenirs and showpieces.

Localities like to get some street food such as the famous Mirchi vada of Jodhpur, and enjoy a shopping spree. 

The Sardar Market is known for leather items such as purses, shoes and the most beautiful embroidered bags. Many shops also carry the famous miniature elephant showpieces, The clothes here are made of special textiles which is hand dyed, block printed and tie-dyed as well.

Masuriya Hill Garden -Refreshing Vistas

Sitting atop the Masuriya hill, this garden is a weekend picnic spot. Gives an amazing 360 view of the city from the top of the hill. It is 9km away from Jodhpur city centre.
