Udaipur

Based on my last trip to Udaipur, I would love to summarise the city in one beautiful quote –

‘’Every city has an essence, Udaipur is vanilla with a shot of espresso.‘’ – Muskan Uttamchandani

Each city has its unique offering, the rationale behind calling Udaipur an espresso is its freshness which is also known for its strong awakening. Just like how a shot of vanilla adds taste to the strong espresso, The white palaces & serene lake depict the rich culture of the city.

What better to start a trip to Udaipur than to The City Palace?

The City Palace is a perfect example of Rajputi grandeur, built during the kingdom’s peek on the shore of Lake Pichola.

City Palace Udaipur

The riches are shown through the mirror- work, intricately designed marble columns, vivid wall paintings and inlay work with marble.

The details and the excellent craftsmanship are a wonder in themselves! So don’t miss them out.

Trust me, City Palace will be the best part on your Udaipur Itinerary

This monument truly portrays the architectural style of its time. Built with such excellence that it hasn’t lost its lustre over 400 years! Isn’t it stunning?

Last when I visited, I paid an entry fee of Rs.300, here is a site that will help you with a lot of related information.

Jagdish Temple is located near the City Palace, at a walking distance of 400m from the palace.

Jagdish Temple Udaipur

Situated at the heart of Udaipur, Jagdish Temple is a major tourist attraction in the Old City.

The entrance is heavily decorated with animal and human sculptures.

The temple also showcases Indo-Aryan style with intricate work on all three tiers of the temple, depicting stories of Lord Vishnu’s life.

Next on the List is Gangaur Ghat

Once you have visited the Jagdish temple, an ideal way to enjoy a sunset is at Gangaur Ghat.

It is situated on the other end of Lake Pichola, which is just 230m away from Jagdish temple, near Bagore Ki Haweli.

A novel experience at Shilpgram- a village packed with art!

Shilpgram village of artisans offers a glimpse of historical art, with Udaipur’s famous miniature paintings, pottery, show pieces wall hangings and many more home decor items.

Sahelion ki Bari- A Garden of the Maidens

Sahelion ki bari is a garden at the banks of Fatehsagar Lake. It was made in the 18th century for the maidens of the princess of the time.

Has an alluring setting of lotus pools surrounding a grand fountain, which has motifs of many animals such as elephants which is a classic symbol of pristine.

Sajjangarh- The Monsoon Palace

Sajjangarh Palace, built during the 1800s for the royals to enjoy the view of monsoon clouds is the highest palace in all of Udaipur, shadowing the Fatehsagar Lake as its edge blends into the flora.

This nine-storey palace was a monsoon resort for the royal family.

This lake does justice to the title “The City of Lakes”.

One of the largest and most prominent lakes in Udaipur and perhaps the best sunset point in all of Rajasthan, where the sun sets right between two mountains scattering its beams through the clear water.
