The Dark Hedges is a wonderful series of lined beech trees that have been a part of many famous TV shows and films such as Game of Thrones. They are one of Northern Ireland’s most popular attractions and definitely, a must-visit.

Here we have a detailed travel guide for you to this majestic place:

How To Get To Dark Hedges?

The Dark Hedges are located between Armoy and Stranocum in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. You can also locate them near the Hedges Hotel on the stretch of Bregagh Road.

They’re very close to Belfast and Dublin, and thus you can easily include them in your Northern Ireland road trip. You can take your own car or go by public transport.

Where To Park At Dark Hedges?

There’s a free parking area near the hotel, and the way to the trees is two minutes’ distance with a well-marked route.

You’re not allowed to drive or park along that road, and the parking area is on the north side so many people just visit the north side of the road, click some pictures and then return.

But what I would suggest is that to avoid the crowd you can walk towards the southern side of the road.

Is Dark Hedges Worth Visiting?

It was built in the 18th century by the Stuart family. It has attracted so many photographers and painters for a reason and remains a magnificent sight to behold.

This is a unique spot featured in many shows and movies, which makes it attract more tourists.

As my title describes that they’re hauntingly beautiful, and once you’ll step out of your car, you’ll see why I said this. It is just a short lane surrounded by fields and yet so surprisingly beautiful and mesmerizing.

The trees are suspended from each other and thus helps each other to grow and live longer. And the lane is a bit hilly so you can place your camera accordingly to avoid the crowd in your pictures.

We were also informed that these trees were supposed to last just for 150 years but as they’re over it so now they won’t last more than 30 years, so might want to visit them as soon as possible.

As the place is really popular and so there’s a lot of crowds and I would suggest that you go there in the off-season or at odd timings so that you can enjoy the place. It is considered to be one of the best tourist locations in the UK.

There are also two restaurants nearby so you don’t even need to worry about food and you can also have access to clean washrooms.

If you’re nearby, I would suggest you visit the place once as I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Conclusion

Visit Dark Hedges as soon as possible and before the place is taken over by tourism and gets ruined.

My trip gave me some unforgettable memories of the fun that I had here with my friends, and I hope you will also feel the same after visiting.
