Rome is well known and celebrated for its rich history and marvellous historical monuments like the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Rome is called the city of love, but it is a city of many exciting stories too.
If you are planning a tour, you should definitely include the best places in Rome on your list. While travelling to Italy, there are a few things that you should be prepared for.
How to get to the Colosseum?
You can easily take the metro to the Colosseo stop on the B Line to reach the Colosseum. You can take the bus to the nearest bus stop. The tickets for the bus are available in many small shops. And I can assure you that the buses are worth giving a try in Rome.
Another convenient way to reach the Colosseum will be to book a taxi and arrive at the intersection directly.
How to enter the Colosseum?
There is a single ticket issued for the three great monuments of Rome: the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, and the Roman Forum. You can directly check the ticket by clicking here.
What happened in the Colosseum?
The Colosseum is not the ancient and real name of this place. Earlier, this place was known as the Flavian Amphitheatre. This is the world’s biggest amphitheatre ever created, and that can be proved true by its massive size.
The Colosseum was and still is a major attraction in Rome. In ancient times, this amphitheatre was used for various entertainment purposes. But one of the well-known things about which they are famous is the gladiator fights.
The Colosseum can fit about 65,000 people, and it used to be crowded because of the various dramas and theatres organized here.
The Colosseum later got deteriorated because of earthquakes and lightning.
What to do in the Colosseum?
The Colosseum was one of my favourite places, to be honest. There was so much to learn, and the Colosseum has a great museum inside it. You can see various well-preserved skeletons of the animals and weapons used at that time.
The best thing that I did in the Colosseum was hired a guide for the place, who gave us important information and told us about the historical events that took place there. Don’t be scared, it’s not going to be as boring as your usual history class.
You can book a tour guide here.
Don’t forget to take amazing pictures at the Colosseum. Also, a pro tip is to not buy water bottles because you will get lots of aqueducts that supply drinking water.
Things to explore near the Colosseum
There are many monuments that are worth exploring near the Colosseum. Once you have taken a tour of the place, you can also go ahead and explore the most famous hill in Rome, Palatine Hill, and the ancient administrative building of Rome, the Roman Forum.
Also, if you are tired, take a break and try some delicious pizzas at Oppio Cafe. It is worth trying, and you can always take a round of the beautiful Roman streets. The streets are filled with some great souvenir shops too.

Conclusion
I might not be the most pro-history person, but still, this place was a lot of entertainment for me. The Colosseum is giant and contains the best artwork of the artisans in Rome. This place is a great experience.
